  1. Editorial Reviews. Fate sees the Philadelphia-based quintet filtering the gamut of American popular music into its own idiosyncratic brand of blue-eyed, dilated-pupil soul. As ever, Dr. Dog makes magic from an enduring pop palette of intricate harmonies, shape-shifting melodies, and ramshackle audio ingenuity - all presented through the band's slightly skewed and utterly individualistic outlook/5(62).
  2. From the Album Fate out of 5 stars 3 ratings. "The Old Days" is the first Dr. Dog song that I had ever heard and it led to my discovery of the rest of their music. Corey Johnson. out of 5 stars Not a go to disc. Reviewed in the United States on December 6, Verified Purchase. The cd has maybe 2 songs that are worth a second /5(3).
  3. Like it's predecessors, this album takes a couple of listens to get into. I love that moment when listening to a Dr. Dog album, when you realize the awesomeness. It's a great epiphany. Fate's awesomeness isn't as awesome as Easy Beat and We all Belong. You can hear more definite, direct influences which takes a little bit from some of the songs/5(69).

  8. AllMusic Review by Sean Westergaard. Dr. Dog have been steadily refining their sound since the unexpected success of Easy Beat, and Fate continues that trend. They've still got all the right classic rock moves, clever production ideas, and the ragged-but-right vocals and bouncy bass of Toby Leaman and Scott McMicken 's tough guitar and sweet vocals.
